Each time you change your baby’s nappy, be prepared to entertain, amuse, and interact with her. Babies sometimes get wriggly when they have their nappy changed. Keep them distracted will usually do the trick.
- Talk
Chat with your baby about your day, your plans, or your dreams. Give her a chance to ‘talk back’ so you can have a ‘conversation’. - Songs
Even if you are not the greatest singer, do not be afraid to belt out a few songs or lullabies as you change your baby. - Silly sounds
Use your mouth to make raspberries, smacking noises, kisses, motorboats, puffs, snorts, and anything else you can think of. - Tongue ticklers
Entertain your baby with your tongue by wiggling it, sticking it and out, making clicking sounds, and so on. - Funny faces
Keep your baby smiling by making funny faces to go with the funny noises. Be careful not to frighten your baby with a scary face! - Tummy time fun
Set a toy on your baby’s tummy, make funny noises on it, play a game such as round-and-round-the-garden, and so on. - Games
Play games such as pat-a-cake, peek-a-boo and so on - Sights to see
Hang a mobile, mirror, or colorful picture over the changing table, so your baby has something interesting to look at. - Toys
Keep a supply of squeaky toys, stuffed animals, and puppets handy to use while changing your baby.
