Children living in moldy environments are more likely to develop health problems such as allergies and asthma. Moulds grow in moist areas like damp basements, shower stalls, bathtubs, wet carpeting, air conditioners, refrigerators, and so on. Here are some tips for preventing mould from becoming a problem in your home.
Use dehumidifier and exhaust fans to keep moist areas dry, especially bathrooms, basements, and the kitchen.
Thoroughly dry any water-damaged materials, such as carpeting or wood floors, as quickly as possible. If effective drying is not possible, replace or remove the materials.
Make sure the ground is built up around your home, and make sure the gutters are clean and properly installed so water can drain away from your home.
Keep air conditioners and humidifier clean and working properly.
Wipe or squeegee tiles or shower doors after using the shower.
Don’t store firewood inside your home.
